Up and Down Day

Palm Nut Soup with Banku

Very up and very down day last Sunday.  Good morning, rode to Hohoe only to realize that in a bigger city, more things are closed on Sunday. Which stinks because that only leaves Saturday for doing most errands. Up side was finding my first palm nut soup, found several spices I cannot get at home like sage, nutmeg, ground black pepper and rosemary. Major downer, the school bus transporting people back from church at the school had a MAJOR accident. I got a call from an intern in the car back from Hohoe and coincidentally when I was taking a taxi back home was stopped in the road right when a bulldozer was dragging the van out of the ditch. BUT I talked to some people and everyone is ok and a few hours later after being checked at the hospital everyone was home. I hung out on campus, kicked a ball around and generally had some fun with the kids there. Watched the real soccer on the field, the little kid soccer on the side, and one students spending ten minutes trying to get his sandal out of a tree. Then back home where my roommate’s brother, cousin and friend were hanging out and then they asked to see pictures and spent a while taking lots of snaps of each other.
